In a very competitive Grete’s Great Gallop over the half-marathon distance in New York City on Sunday, Oct. 6, Christian Thompson, 25, of Wyncote, Penn., prevailed in the men’s race by five seconds over Mengistu Tabor Nebsi, 35, of New York City as they ran 1:06:29 and 1:06:34 respectively. Tariku Aboset Bokan, 32, also of New York City, finished third in 1:07:06.
It was a different story in the women’s race as Bina Chen, 42, of New York City won by almost six minutes. She ran 1:14:23. Two more New York City runners took the next two spots – Alexandra Cadicanio, 25, finished in 1:20:19 and Emily Mareb, 28, ran 1:21:52.
