Overland Park Double Road Race June 30 2013. Tyler McCandless (bib 311), 26 from Boulder Colorado took off like lighting for the 10k leg hitting the half way point in 14:43. He went on to finish the opening 10k leg in 30:16. He had a one minute and nine second lead over Benson Chesang. Next up was the 5k leg which started 1:45 after the 10k leg. Tyler along with the Chesang brothers (Mathew and Benson) went out strong in the 5k. Mathew finished first in that leg but could not make up the distance Tyler had banked. Tyler finished four seconds back. Tyler broke the world record for the Double Road Race (times for both legs are combined) established by Fernando Cabada in Pleasanton (45:34). Tyler finished in 45:15. Molly Pritz (bib 364), 25 from Boulder, Colorado, smashed the female world record with an outstanding time of 53:15. She broke the record set by Tina Kefals (54:03) in Pleasanton, CA Dec 23, 2012. Molly 10k leg was 35:24 and 5k leg was 17:48. Christine Kennedy, 58 from Los Gatos was was awarded the Double Victory Cup since she posted the best age-graded performance of the day. She ran 59:58 (40:01 10k and 19:56 5k). Her age-graded performance is 96.83%. This is the second Double Victory Cup she has won. 432 runners registgered for the Double Road Race and the Bob Andeson's Kids Cup Mile. $5,000 of prize money was awarded.
