Fitness StatementLast spring I was 310 pounds and climbing. Now I am down to 247 and falling.
I had been playing basketball with coworkers at lunch for a few years but only
2 days a week and was not dieting or any other exercise. I also have sleep
apnea and have been on a cpap machine for the last few years. I think after
being on the cpap machine these last few years as finally paid off this year.
I think my body is getting reoxygenated and my metabolism turned back on. I
got on the scales in March and noticed that somehow I had lost some weight. I
was excited and thought if I have lost some weight without dieting and just
playing basketball twice a week what could I do if I picked up the pace and
exercised more? I started running trails with some other coworkers that run
all the local trail runs from 5K to full marathons. I have now lost 63 pounds
and ran my first 10K event - Prowl the Sproul www.hikerun.com -
and my second event was the Dam Half a half marathon -

I am training hard with several coworkers as they get ready to run the Megatransect
ultrahike.com I will run that next year as it sells out fast
every year and wasn’t running yet when registration opened. Next year I plan
on running the Grands Slam ultrahike.com

6.5 mile route with over 1200 feet of elevation changes. Just ran a new personal best of 1:17 go me!
