2013 Together With Love 10k 5k and Kids Race

It was a beautiful day in Monterey Sunday Feb 10th. The day started off with the 1k Kids race and then the 5k and 10k started. The course runs right along side the ocean. Photos by Catherine Cross Ujena Fit Club

CommentsI have been running for nearly 50 years and I love it just as much as I did when I first got started. I am running 25 or more races in 2011 and six will be half marathons. I have run 10 marathons over the years but not in the last 25 years. My body likes the 10-mile to half marathon the best. However, I do enjoy racing 5k and 10k too! To Celebrate 50 years of running and racing, I am planning on running 50 races in 2012 and I hope to average at least 75% age graded. My goal is to averge 80% or more but it is a lot of races. 
Fitness StatementI run or walk everyday and at least 30 miles per week. To race well I do need to push it at least twice during the week which I have not been doing. This is going to change.

Ran 4.2 miles and one quarter on the track. A little windy today but once I got going I didn't notice it. Need to do a race before I get into Double season...Ten Doubles in six months!

Ran one mile and walked two. This is getting to be a habit on Monday after doing a long run over the weekend. Legs feel a little tired from the weekend.

This is now four weekends in a row my long run has been at least 13 miles. The first weekend after Boston I was still running easy but the following weekend I ran 16.2 miles. Then 13.1 the next two weekend and then again this morning I ran our Los Gatos Creek Half Marathon course (starts at Forbes Mill and turn right after passing the Hamilton Underpass to return). My time today was my best...I ran 1:44:43 and we ran easy the first 1.5 miles (like 9:02 for the first mile) because my big toe is still bothering me from Boston. Michael really pushed me from mile three to six. Always a fun morning to run with Michael and then have breakfast afterwards.

My big toe is bothering me so I decided to walk today. I walked 1.5 miles. I am running 13 miles with Michael on Sunday and I will be ready. We have run 13 plus miles every weekend since Boston...

My legs were a little tired from running 13 miles yesterday but I did an easy four miles. Glad I did it. I have been walking the day after a longer run but I am going to start running instead...but I will continue to work in some walking during the week.

runnerWe are all okay. Can not believe what happened. I was waiting for Michael to finish when the bombs went off. I found out later that he had just finished four minutes before. Our hearts go out to thosed who were killed or injuries. 4500 runners were not allowed to finish...

runnerWe have confirmed Our fifth Double Road Race for 2013. Manhattan Kansas the little apple .... November 9th...home of Kansas State Univ....FYI. I went to school there and published Distance Running News there until coming to CA Dec 1969...chaned name to Runners World.

runnerIn Cancun...got stuck at the Denver airport for three hours yesterday. Walked three miles in the airport. Going for a run here in a few. Not as hot as normal...at least this early.
