| Fitness Statement | I started running with the military and hated it. Running hurt. I finished basic training with severe shin splints and swore I would never lace up running shoes willingly again. After my daughter was born, I wanted to see if I could enjoy this sport, if I did it on my own with my own training. I love it. I love the feeling of power as i feel my body coil and spring with every stride. I have gone on to teach learn to run and learn to run 5K workshops. I have lost over twenty pounds from running and weight training, and continue to work towards my goal. I think any running goal is possible, with teh right training plan. I was training for my second half when I started getting pain in my foot - my peroneal tendon I suspect. I am still hoping to compete in the race in September. |

So, I have been away, but I haven't actually been away from fitness - I am currently working hard to train for a few events this summer - a ten mile race and a couple of triathlons. I am also training with CrossFit.
One more exciting piece, I just got some samples from Athletic Alliance - a Canadian supplement company. I am excited to try them tomorrow before working out!
It is always good to have something you are pointing for! You should include a Double Road Race on your bucket list...Wow, my legs were tired from the bodybuilding yesterday. I needed the run, but could not manage much more than 3 miles!
Ran at lunch - it's really hot out there again. Should be hungry, but the heat just kills it. Going to force some Greek yogurt in a bit.
May go to Yoga tonight, depending since I am SUPER SLEEPY. Couldn't sleep last night (migraine), so am dead tired now. Going to have to ROCK OUT to the Rock of Ages soundtrack in the car to stay awake on the drive home. Always gets such weird looks, woman in uniform singing along to hair metal!
Whoo was it smoking hot out there today! CrossFit and ran, played some soccer.
Wow what a day! I did an hour of Hot Yoga, 30 min tempo run, then about 30-40 mins of CrossFit. YAWN!
Whew! Over an hour of Moksha Yoga in the hot room. It was around 41 degrees. Felt good.
Ugh. No workout today. MIgraine from last night has not completely passed. Hopefully tomorrow.
Was just starting to wonder how you were getting along with your workouts. Hope you feel well enough tomorrow to get one in.Today was hectic. Started with an hour of soccer, then after work did an hour of softball practice, then a half hour of CrossFit, then swam with Darby for a half hour to cool off! It was boiling hot and humid today. Feels good, think I am back in the groove even though DOMS is setting in.
Ran about 5 K, then did some CrossFit - WOW my butt is going to hurt tomorrow, but those back squats felt GREAT!
Started playing baseball today, and went for a short run with my daughter to get her started, we are on our way!
Baby steps. Nice to see you getting your daughter involved. Was following a guy and his little boy (about 5) on the trail last week. Full of energy and all smiles.
Yep! She trained with me last summer for my half, biked almost every LSD with me - up to nine miles.
Had a massage and Graston today for my neck/shoulders. Can that count as a workout? I look like someone flogged my shoulders and neck. It did, however, get rid of my migraine-inducing neck pain.
Run, CrossFit and Yoga tomorrow. I LOVE Saturdays!
It's been a tough few weeks Barry, not going to lie - so many ups and downs. I am getting back on track though - thanks for keeping on me, exactly what I needed. ;)
Keep your spirits up and your life and fitness goals in view. Looking forward to seeing your next fit log post.
We have not heard from you in a while Donna. Hope you are doing well.
Be sure to let us know how you do in the Army Run in Ottawa this weekend...looks like you are ready!!! Good luck.....
