| Comments | Great idea to set up the UjENA Fit Club. We all need to be motivated in different ways to get fit and stay fit. We also need to give back and help others and this club can do all of this. Can't wait to see how this grows! |

Did a mini Double Road Race workout this morning. Ran 2 miles from the gym back to the gym, recovered for 20 minutes in the gym and ran another 1 mile. As Double Road Racing grows, I can see these types of workouts becoming popular. Has anyone tried this?
I did a Double type workout before Pleasanton. 10k with 39 minute rest followed by a hard 5k. Confidence builder!
Very smart. I'm going to incorporate more runs like this with recovery in between and we'll see how it goes.
I did a late breakfast today, took an hour recovery and then had lunch. The breakfast was pancakes and the lunch was a burrito.
Justin, I did a modified Double Road Race trainer a few weeks ago--ran the 10K course, warming up at first, then moderately hard the rest of the way, then 10-15 min walk/drink break, then 10K course again pretty hard. The short version and the long version both have great value in prepping for this event.Lisa and I got in our 5 mile course this morning. I felt stronger than I have in a long time. Not sure why, but hopefully I can continue to build strength towards the Carlsbad 5000.
I think those hills are really helping you guys. You both ran well yesterday. Good job!!!!
BTW, check out the photo of Owen in the Best Shot Challenge below....what a stride on that boy! His time of 4:40 for 1K at age 5 is like running under 7 minutes for the mile.
LOVE that photo of Owen...he is catching some air! Great time too... WOW!Got in 10.5 in the hills this morning. It was my longest run in a while. Looking forward to racing next weekend in the Love Run 5K in Pacific Grove. Haven't raced for several months so we'll see.
Changed it up today and played tennis instead of running. It's a little strange not running, but tennis definitely is a good workout.
Did 4.1 miles on the treadmill today. I only run on the treadmill when it's really cold, raining, or when I'm wanting to do some strength training. Today was one of those days. Does anyone do speed work on the treadmill? I've been mixing in fast quarter miles every other lap. I'm kind of liking it, or maybe it just breaks up the monotony of the treadmill? Probably the latter. Either way, i think it's working.
Got in 6. 4 this morning. The Olympic Marathon Trials inspired me to get off the couch. Way to go Meb, Hall and Abdi. LONDON GAMES!!
Got in 6.2 miles this morning. Mostly hills. Legs were burning pretty good. Beautiful morning but definitely chilly. Beany & gloves are an absolute must on cold mornings. I can't stand being cold on runs. Looking forward to the Olympic Trials (Marathon) this weekend and of course
GO NINERS!!!!
You are getting in some good runs...the cold just makes it more challenging!!! Going to be some good racing in Houston this Saturday!!! and YES...GO NINERS!!!Lisa and I got in our 5 mile loop this morning. It was nice but cold. Ran the first 3 miles slow and then ran 6:12 pace for the last 2 miles. I feel like I'm starting to get stronger. Still have a ways to go, but it's improving.
Good job guys...you were cooking those last two miles. That sub 18 minute 5k is not far off...Lisa and I ran our 5 mile course this morning. Ready to tackle 2012!
Hope you're having a great day. I'm guessing you're on a birthday run. Looking forward to joining you in SF tomorrow. Can't wait and I hope the knee is improving!
Congrats Mike. 4:00:34 Boston Marathon. Way to go bro!!!
Congrats Bob...3:32:15 Boston Marathon. 13th place in his age group (65-69). VERY impressive!!!
Congrats to Fernando Cabada. The winner of the Double Road Race Pleasanon. He placed 16th today at Boston. 2:18:23. Also Kristine Kennedy, the Double Road Race Grand Champion (Age Graded). At 58, she finished in 2:55:01. Incredible performances by Daniel, Fernando and Kristine today in Boston.
Congrats to Daniel Tapia. The second place finisher at the Double Road Race Pleasanton. He finished in 9th place in today's Boston Marathon. 2:14:30. WOW!!!
Just finished up a meeting with Double Road Race Recovery Zone partner Club Sport in Pleasanton. Thanks to Sandie and Thomas for everything. They are pumped to finalize plans for the 2013 Pleasanton Double Road Race. Big things to come!
After 3 months of not running, i've gotten back on the road. A couple 3 milers and then 5 today. I need some encouragement from the Fit Club.
It was three months? I know you were busy with the Double and the kids but...glad to hear you ate back out. Lets plan some weekend runs since I am not going to be racing every weekend in 2013....
Good luck at the San Jose Half Marathon this weekend...this makes three in a row there!
At 36, Meb is the oldest Olympic Trials Marathon winner ever.
10 Miles...that is impressive! Did you do the trail? Good job!
Congrats on being our first UjENA FIT Club male winner. Since you are a 2-star or beyond member, we doubled your $50. Thanks for donating it back to our Race fund.
Good photo of you and Bobby McKee from yesterday. Bobby had been injuried for a few months but has come back strong. He was the first 55 plus guy running 1:29:29.
Good luck Justin in the 5k on Sunday. I think you are ready to unleash a good one. GO FOR IT!!
Just picked up a new pair of running shoes. New Balance 1400. Never worn New Balance before. Crazy colors (Blue
Love New Balance! I just switched over from Nike last year and have been very pleased..
