I'm so proud of myself for not wussing out this week and completing serious workouts every day! Today's yoga session was powerful yet restorative. A perfect end to this week!
2 straight hours of Zumba today. Fridays are killer sessions, literally. I love our instructors, but I do think they are absolutely crazy sometimes. Death by Zumba - but at least we'll look good:-) Happy weekend everyone!!
Today's yoga session was a great end to a very hot week here in SoCal. Despite the heat I got in workouts everyday, just had to get creative and mix it up!
Back at the Zumba sweat box this morning. I think SoCal is in for a real Indian Summer these next few weeks. It's hot, but working out feels extra intense. I love that feeling!
This morning I ran "conquer the bridge" which is a 5.3 mile race across the Vincent Thomas Bridge in the LA suburb of San Pedro. It's a huge suspension bridge and absolutely breathtaking. The city shut down the entire bridge for 3 hours so that only runners and walkers could take part in this fantastic event. It was killer. In every sense of the word. My friend took some amazing photos too!
I'm officially calling my Zumba studio "The Sweat Box". Really insane workouts despite the heat, but you feel so good about yourself after. Have a great weekend everyone - stay cool!!
Back on track this week with workouts and my body is really feeling the effects. Last night's group run of 5 miles was nice, and I've signed up for a really exciting race on Labor Day. "Conquer the bridge" is a 5.3 mile race over the Vincent Thomas Bridge which links the cities of Long Beach and San Pedro here in SoCal. It's an amazing suspension bridge which will be killer on the quads I'm sure!
Yesterday's group run was nice & cool along the shoreline despite the current heat wave. My friend wanted to go longer than the usual 5 miles so we went for almost 6 and a half. It was her first "10K":) I love it when new runners are excited to experience and accomplish new goals. It keeps me motivated too!
5 miles felt so good tonight with my brand new anti-minimal super cushioned shoes. After last week's unpleasant run in a "minimalist" style shoe I should have known all along what has truly worked for me. I love you Asics Gel Cumulus!! I'll never stray again!! :)
I was so excited to wear my new Asics Extreme 33 shoes for their first run last night. UGH! Hotspot on my heel after 3 miles but I still pushed through 5 since I was with my running group. So disappointed! They're so cute & bright...oh well. I should just stick with the model that works for me. The new generation of more "minimal" shoes really interests me. I just need to find that perfect, magical fit. The kind of shoe that makes you want to run forever...
Be careful with the minimal shoes....hearing about a lot of injuries...but then some people are loving them too! I know they would not work for me.
I agree with you Bob! I've always believed in the "if it's not broken don't fix it" mindset. In 16 years I say with absolute gratitude that I've never sustained an injury from running. Well cushioned shoes have always worked well for me.
So relieved to hear that Bob and Michael are okay. Let's all keep sending our prayers and positive energy to all those affected by this horrific tragedy. Runners are a community of compassion, strength and support. We don't just survive, we flourish. Love for Boston forever...
Hey everyone it's National Running Day! Get out there and enjoy a run!
Lacey, thanks for your comment on my page about NYC. :) Yes, it truly is a great place, and as far as its negatives, just like with anything else in life, they are only there if you choose to see them.
Happy running to you!

Oh wow I can't agree more. I've always treasured my runs in Central Park and the Upper East Side when I've visited the city. The people..the energy..it's all so amazing. You're a lucky guy Todd!!

Hi Lacey! I am so excited to see you here!!!! I'll be tracking your workouts...keep it up lady :0). Have a great weekend.
Oh thanks so much Lisa! Obviously I'm more of a yoga girl now (just started 4 months ago) but I plan on gradually incorporating more miles into my week. You, on the other hand, are just a running machine!! So awesome!!! Have a beautiful weekend!.
