| Fitness Statement | I have been running since 1968. I actively raced between 1972 and 1995. I rarely race anymore. The goal these days is to just keep running. |
| Quote | “Age is just a number. However, it's a good thing I like big numbers!” |
| Running Achievements | During the late 1970's was ranked in the top thirty runners in NorCal.
4:31 mile, 9:44 two mile, 15:46 5k, 32:34 10k, 54:45 10 mile. |
68 minutes from my house up to Stevens Creek Reservoir and back.
Ran with Brian who kept the pace strong and honest.
3 mile easy jog up in GG Park. Watched the leaders come by in Bay to Breakers. Then I went to breakfast with a friend. Frankly watching the race was kinda blah. Watching the local TV coverage (recorded it) later on was worse.
Ryan Hall finished strong...placing second overall. Our top Ujena fit Club member was Giliat who placed fourth overall. Total finishers were 21284...30 minute walk with Lucy in the morning. 30 minutes on the treadmill in the afternoon at a 9 pace.
65 minute run in the morning and 40 minute Lucy walk at noontime. I was going to run on the treadmill in the afternoon but opted for a nap instead,
60 minutes of running followed by ten minutes of walking. Then later on another 60 minutes of walking with Bob to and from our lunch place. Then walked Lucy for a mile.
30 minutes of walking with Lucy. Then drove over to Foothill and warmed up for twenty minutes followed by 45 minutes of 200 on, 200 jog hitting the "on's" at an eight minute mile pace.
Almost ran this morning but then decided to just walk the dog for two miles.
60 minute easy run in the morning. 1.5 miles on the "mill" at an 8:30 pace in the afternoon.
Add A New Secret Training Idea
90 minutes of hard walking ( or 90 minutes of hardly walking...one or the other )
Walking is better than nothing...next time we go to lunch we are walking to our burger place and then walking back...three miles.
45 minutes of walking with Lucy. Getting ready for the Moody Two. At The Double I was a Course Marshal but Bob has promoted me to Race Director. At least I am intimately familiar with the course having raced it many times at the Sunday Runners World Fun Runs back in the 1970's and 80's. Back then it was part of the 5 or 6 mile courses.
Worked the Double with the course monitors. It rained on and off. The wind gusted at times. It generally went well. Runners seemed to be enjoying the event despite the wet conditions. I never saw the start or finish. That's the life of a junior course marshal. My cell phone rang more times in three hours than it had all year. Saw Bill Rodgers run by three times. First time I had seen him in person since Runners Den in 1982 when we were both fast (with him being very fast). Good work by my team (WVJS), Louis Kao's team and the Pleasanton Police.
Thanks Rich, you guys did a great job and in that weather!!!!!! Talk soon....
Bob, we were glad to help. Let me know when things settle down after Xmas and we can have lunch. My treat.
I'm up and sipping coffee. Lucy my slumbering Golden Retriever is looking at me like "What the heck." It's 4 AM! Be heading out to rendezvous with some of the course monitors. Then we'll drive to Pleasanton. Since we're the out on the course and away from the finish line we won't see many of you complete the double. Not if we're doing our jobs.
85 minutes of walking fast. Lucy set the pace over the last 35 minutes. Now I can veg the rest of the day.
Totally exhausted from Tues-Thurs {{{Double Walks}}}. Had to take Friday off. Rested, rehydrated and had a turkey sandwich on wheat (hold the mayo).
Another tough {{{DOUBLE WALK}}}
63 minutes in the morning, 3 hour break with pancakes (no butter but allowed to have syrup) and then another 30 minutes.
Did the double. Walked a fast 68 minutes this morning. Then I took a 4.5 hour break (breakfast, lunch, etc) and walked another 32minutes. 1OO MINUTES TOTAL.
YOU'RE ready dude!!!!!
I am trying define THE WALKING DOUBLE.
Wow, talk about raining on Bob's parade! lol All joking aside that is really great news and happy to read the recovery is going very well. :)
Another 90 minutes of walking. Sunny and clear conditions. .
