|Fitness Statement||I am a professional distance runner, PhD student, and coach. I run professionally for Mizuno, Core Power, SIX Nutrition and PowerBar while living and training in beautiful Boulder, Colorado. My current goal is to earn my PhD before the 2016 Olympic Marathon trials and be a contender for the Olympic team. |
I graduated with both BS and MS degrees in Meteorology from Penn State in the Spring of 2010. In September of 2012, I re-enrolled at Penn State with a position at the National Center for Atmospheric Research to earn my PhD through collaborative research between NCAR and PSU.
While I was at Penn State, I earned All-American Honors in the 10,000m run with a 12th place finish (5th American) at the NCAA D1 Championships in 2010. Since graduating college, I moved up the road races and specifically have trained and competed in marathons. I've won three marathons: 2x winner of the Kauai Marathon in Hawaii and also the winner of the Iwaki City Marathon in Japan. I ran my personal best marathon time of 2:17:09 at Grandma's Marathon in Minnesota and competed at the 2012 Olympic Marathon Trials. In July of 2011 I was awarded the Road Runners Club of America Roads Scholarship, which is an award to assist American post-collegiate runners who show great promise to develop into national and world-class distance running athletes.
In addition to competing at major road races, marathons, and US Championships, I'm the assistant Track and Cross Country Coach at Centaurus High School. In the fall of 2011, the Centaurus boys cross country team won their first state championship in school history while the girls tied their highest finish with a 4th place finish. I'm also the coach of a half dozen athletes around the country online in races ranging from the 5k to the marathon.
