| Fitness Statement | I have been running since 1968. |
| Quote | “Age is just a number. However, it's a good thing I like big numbers!” |
| Running Achievements | During the late 1970's was ranked in the top fifty runners in NorCal.
4:31 mile, 9:44 two mile, 15:46 5k, 32:34 10k, 54:45 10 mile. |
Ran an easy 70 minutes. Threw in an 83 second 400 in the middle.
I ran an easy 69.99 minutes with Ken and Danny around WVC this morning. Beautiful day. Incredible in fact.
Looks like you came up short today by .01 minutes...it was a nice morning for running!!!!Ran about 55 minutes. Sandwiched in there was the following: 2 x 100 17-18, 1 x 600 2:15, 1 x 200. 37, 2 x 100 17-16. The 600 was strange. A friend was reading my 400 split and I thought I heard him call out 95 ( I wanted 90 ) and I stopped and started to walk. My intent was to abort the run. Then I heard him call 90 and realized the error. At about 92-93 I started running again and ended up with a 2:15 thanks to a 37-38 second last 200. Probably would have been 2:10-11 without the hesitation halt just before the 400. Just plain dumb on my part.
Rich...you know never to abort the run!!! Good workout. These types of workouts are going to help you reach your 800m goal. And it will help you run a good 5k once you get in more quality longer runs...I am ready when you are! Glad I ran SF even through I was not pleased with my time...
Thanks. You are right. It was a bonehead mistake but at least I started up again and finished. But it cost me 4-5 seconds.Ran around WVC for 59 minutes. All very slow. I was going to run another minute but then thought better of it,
59 minutes and not 70? Glad you told me not to run the 5k race this morning...thanks!
I am glad you passed on it too. Now you have a dead flat course to race on. I actually may have run 71minutes this morning but for Bob's sake I am rounding it off to 70 minutes.
Bob and I met for lunch and had a nice chat over burgers.
Thanks Rich for the heads up for the 5k this weekend...I am taking your advice and seconded by others to race the easier course in SF on Sunday! Next lunch is my treat...something magical about 70 minutes it seems!!!!Very slow run. Got THE BIG massage yesterday. Legs were beat up in a good way.
The usual run around WVC campus and the track while my club did a speed workout.
Did "my thing". 70 minutes. Plenty of hills.
70 minutes! We are on for May 10 at noon!!! But you are going to need to tell me how I can run a good 5k two days later...Ran 72 minutes this morning. Plenty of hills. Great running day. Sunny and very little wind.
Need to set up a lunch next week...this week is just too crazy...let me know what works!Add A New Secret Training Idea
Bob, I'll be there at the half way point napping some photos.
I can't remember...are you joining us in the morning for the Great race?
I am leaving for Kansas City on Thursday evening. Lets do lunch this week because I need your advice for KC...Glad you are running without pain....
Bob, I am out of town Monday-Tuesday. Wednesday is toast. How about Thursday but around 12:30. If that works, I'll come by.
Hi Rich, do you want to meet at the Campbell trail today for an easy 3? I was thinking this afternoon
Mike, just got your message. Can't run today. Sent you
A private email giving alternative. Either next Tuesday if that works for you or even this Friday,
Rich, I am sending you an email about our doc "A Long Run." Just a heads up. Bob
got it
Thanks Bob. Will contribute to this section.
I feel pretty good this evening. Look forward to running together again in the future.
Thanks Rich for posting your Secret Training Idea...I have thought about getting a heart monitor...
I have a polar model. Low end. Just flashes my heart rate.
I still carry a watch separately. A small hand held stop watch.
Rich, we now have "My Secret training Ideas" section set up. I think you have a few secrets to share. There is a link on the home page. Thanks! Hope you recovered okay from the six mile this morning....
Rich, we are going to start a feature this week where members can give us their own secret training ideas. The secret would need a name and a description....maybe like your Super Loops. I have several but one would be Mile Step Ups. This is where you run three to six one miles on the track and each one has to be faster than the last. See you in the morning...
Bob
Recently I wrote this for a running website. I

Bob
I still owe you one. I'll get to the website during thecweek.
I want to welcome my friend Rich to the UjENA FIT Club. You have run some amazing times in the past (be sure to post your races...our computer found a couple) and I think you still have some more good races in you. Lets do a training run next week!
Thanks Bob
Monday morning 8am...we'll do my six mile lake run.
Looking forward to it..
